Summer is just around the corner, and now your child can enjoy the same enriching activities that country day camps offer without the stress of traveling out of the city every day on a bus. Our summer camp, located in the heart of New York City, combines a daily program at our facilities, which are downtown Manhattan’s best, with special events to give your child an exciting and varied camp experience.

Now in our 21^st summer, the Downtown Day Camp is simply the most enjoyable summer experience available - and all in a nearby, safe, caring environment. Our returning camp director, Dr. Russ Schulman, has worked with children in downtown Manhattan for the last two decades.

Our new Downtown Community Center will be open for camp again this summer! With its new swimming pool, art rooms, multi-media lab, dance studio, small gym, theater, classrooms and more, the Downtown Community Center will provide Downtown Day Camp with a whole new level of age-appropriate activities. These activities will be complimented by our returning field and gym sports, karate, musical performances, pier barbecues, camp carnival and other special events. Thanks to our new facility, enhanced programming, and friendly, familiar staff, we expect this to be our best summer yet!

The Downtown Day Camp is interested in much more than providing a variety of fun and enriching activities for our campers. We are concerned with the social, emotional, and personal growth of each child we care for. This philosophy permeates our entire camp family, and all aspects of our program. The children are grouped by grade and you may choose who your child is grouped with. Throughout the entire summer, the campers and counselors within your child’s group are supervised by one of our Team Leaders. Team Leaders are experienced teachers or child-care professionals. Any and all needs that your child has may be personally addressed and managed by one of these extremely competent and experienced professionals. This is a level of supervision that clearly expresses our commitment to the personal needs of your child. Our head counselors are all college students or graduates. We use high achieving and motivated high school students as assistants. In addition, we have a full-time registered nurse on duty.

Please note that we are one of the few summer camps with an extended season for working parents and for children who want an extra week of fun. Our camp day is from 9 to 5, but we offer early and late hours as well, from 8-9 AM and from 5-6 PM. With convenient sessions, caring staff, and fantastic facilities, it's no wonder why campers keep coming back for more each summer!

In addition to our regular camp sessions, this summer we have an "Add On Week." The Add On Week is an extra week of fun that is held Exclusively at the Downtown Community Center. There is no bus service for this week, and enrollment is extremely limited.
